Very *very* early demo of the "space" shooter I'm working on. Gameplaywise the main inspiration is Freelancer.

Performance in the browser is a bit poor, I recommend the download.

Mouse to steer and shoot, WASD to accelerate/decelerate and strafe. Shift/Control to strafe down and space to strafe up. Q and E to roll.

Supported resolutions are 1920x1200 and 1920x1080. I *did* implement something for larger solutions, but I am unable to test that due to lack of corresponding hardware.

Press escape at anytime to quit. If you do that in a browser though not much will happen other than the game stopping. Just close the tab.

Feedback is appreciated.

Good start! My two main criticisms right now are the blocky resolution and the handling. Oh, and it could do with preloading the assets better (it kind of just freezes while loading things, and then is stuttery for the first explosion I presume because it has to do a fetch.

The resolution is just too blocky to see the ships coming at you before they are right in your face, so you can't hope to try and judge their velocities to try and lead shots etc.

The handling is OK, but I think I'd prefer it if the top speed were a little faster, at least in this arena.

The shooting and explosions are pretty good.

Thank you, appreciate your input greatly!

I can see where you're coming from wrt the resolution. I am going for a retro look, but I understand that right now it's hard to see the enemies at a distance. I might increase it a bit.

Will see what I can do about the asset preloading.

So is the speed the only problem with the handling? Cause you said handling is one of the main criticisms.

I think the speed was the main problem yeah.
